CMS has pressed the case for health systems reform in Colorado for more than two years. The Physicians’ Congress serves to unite the profession around a strategy to achieve comprehensive health care reform. The reform movement in the state is now well underway and the physician community is playing an active role through the work of the Physicians’ Congress. WHAT'S NEW?

Governor Ritter’s announcement of his Building Blocks for Health Care Reform, only two weeks following the release of the Commission’s report, propelled the state into the next phase of reform. The Building Blocks operationalize Governor Ritter’s health care component of the Colorado Promise and the 208 Commission recommendations into a stakeholder strategy to implement comprehensive health care reform in stages rather than all at once. 208 Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Reform

On January 31, 2008 the 208 Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Reform released its final report to the legislature. This road map report will help chart the course for the next phase of work to reform Colorado's broken health care system.
